CHIEFS KINGDOM — KC restaurants see Chiefs return to Super Bowl as good for business

Many restaurants are excited about the Chiefs return to the Super Bowl. It can be good for business.At the Westport Flea Market Bar and Grill, it means another Chiefs Super Bowl special.Last year, the restaurant rolled back burger prices to what they were in 1969, which was the last time the Chiefs had won a Super Bowl. This year, there’s another Super Bowl and another special.”Hey, it’s our second trip in a row. It’s the 55th year of the Super Bowl. Let’s do burgers for $2.55, and they were like, ‘That’s great,’ and so, we’re doing it and we started yesterday, and it’s just been crazy,” owner Joe Zwillenberg said.Even with $2.55 burgers, the celebrating won’t be the same this year because of COVID-19 protocols. Capacity is 400. It’s now limiting seating to 100. Zwillenberg said that a trip to the Super Bowl is just what everyone needs right now.”When the Chiefs are winning, the tips are more, the smiles are bigger and you know, maybe they’re ordering that second beer or another refill of soda. Everybody’s just having a good time,” he said.Fans like the special prices but they also appreciate businesses celebrating their team.”I love that they do this. They did it last year and I believe they did it when the Royals won it … and the burgers are delicious anyway so we come here often,” said Kym Thompson.There are more specials to come.”To have what we have now, it’s just a gift. Let’s enjoy the heck out of it,” Zwillenberg said.
