Construction crews unearth piece of Des Moines history


Construction crews made an amazing discovery while working on a Des Moines road this week.Crews working to rebuilt part of Ingersoll Avenue unearthed part of the city’s past Wednesday.They found some of the city’s original streetcar tracks. The tracks were paved over years ago.A city spokesperson told KCCI that parts of the track will be donated to the organization, “Des Moines Streetcar Friends” so that part of the city’s history can be preserved.Work along Ingersoll is expected to be done this fall.
