Serbia’s Novak Djokovic makes a backhand return to Austria’s Dominic Thiem during the men’s singles final at the Australian Open in Melbourne on Sunday, February 2. Djokovic became the first man in the Open Era to win a grand slam title in three decades by downing big-hitter Dominic Thiem 6-4 4-6 2-6 6-3 6-4 in an unforgettable three-hour, 59-minute final.

The Australian Open at Melbourne Park is the first tennis grand slam of the season and runs from January 20 to February 2. For the first time since 2006, 23-time grand slam winner Serena Williams failed to pass the third round in the tournament. In men’s singles, Novak Dojokovic faced Dominic Thiem in the final.
